August 1, 2018 by Hana Woolerson

Where do you think the growth areas are for careers in the future?

In partnership with Innovation Central Perth, we are looking for 18 students to participate in a Design Thinking Workshop to examine ‘Where do you think the growth areas are for careers in the future?’.

This is an interactive session where you will be sharing a table with private/public sector industry professionals, including representatives from Rio Tinto, Deloitte, Austal and Microsoft, entrepreneurs and Curtin staff.

Originating from Stanford University, Design Thinking is a growing methodology used within organisations to solve problems in a creative way. Using the expertise of variety of stakeholders to see a situation from different viewpoints, design thinking allows organisations to generate and test different ideas and, in some instances, redefine the problem.

By participating in the session you will be able to:

  • Add a new skill to your tool kit. Learn and experience cutting-edge design thinking practises which you can use to contribute to future work activities or your own entrepreneurial activities.
  • Network with industry professionals from a variety of industries in a dynamic and professional environment.
  • Share your insights and generate new ideas about the future world of work that can help the Curtin Careers, Employment & Leadership provide better support to students.

We are accepting applications from all Curtin students from any discipline, however students need to be able to attend the Bentley campus for the session.

When: Tuesday 14 August, 9:00am – 1:00pm

Where: Building 216 Level 2

Applications are open now, and will close on Wednesday 8 August at 5pm.

There are only 18 places available for students to attend this event. To be in the running for a seat at the table, submit a response to the question: ‘What are the growth areas for careers in the future?’ and let us know why you would like one of the places available to participate in this compressed design thinking workshop.
