PathWest Laboratory Medicine WA (PathWest) is Western Australia’s only public pathology Provider, and the largest pathology employer in WA.
PathWest employs over 2000 staff in various roles such as medical scientists, phlebotomists, technical staff and pathologists. PathWest has a network of 5 major teaching hospital laboratories, 23 metropolitan and regional laboratories, and over 70 specimen collection centres across the state.
PathWest is part of the Department of Health, and administratively reports to the North Metropolitan Area Health Service Chief Executive. PathWest provides services to the North Metropolitan Area Health Service, South Metropolitan Area Health Service, Children and Adolescent Health Services, and WA Country Health Service, as well as to General Practitioners, WA Police, and many private companies.
PathWest have committed to a number of education and training programs aimed at developing the knowledge, skills and professional development of its pathologists, medical scientists, managerial staff, technical staff, laboratory assistants and phlebotomists, as well as growing and developing the future workforce through its work with medical students.
PathWest provides services to communities all over WA from Kununurra in the north to Esperance in the south, and every community in between.
