Top 5 tips for first semester

So now that you’ve got to know us, here’s our top tips for things to do this semester that will help you get your future career off to a flying start:

Join Curtin Volunteers!

Volunteering with CV! gives you the chance to meet new people, give back to community, develop your employability skills, explore unique parts of WA, and receive official recognition through Curtin Extra.

We have loads of exciting volunteering opportunities, from ongoing programs to one-off projects to weekends away. Sign up online to view what’s currently available.

Keen to take your volunteering to the next level? Join the JCW Leadership Team.

Get yourself a mentor

Our CareerPLUS program provides you with the opportunity to connect with an industry mentor currently working in a field related to your course of study.

CareerPLUS registrations are currently open so, if you’re in your penultimate or final year and interested in taking part, submit your application today.

Become a Game Changer

Explore your potential, develop your self-awareness, and learn to work with others to create lasting change!

The Game Changers series covers a variety of topics, including leadership 101, goal setting, teamwork, and networking, as well as innovative concepts such as forming habits for success, driving change, and leveraging diversity.

Game Changers workshops kicks off on Tuesday 8 March, book through UniHub.

Look for work

Working while you study is a great way to develop the transferable skills graduate employers are looking for.

UniHub is where you’ll find Curtin’s very own online jobs board, with everything from part-time/casual jobs to graduate employment. It is also where you will find jobs on campus as part of our Earn While You Learn initiative.

Have your resume reviewed

Make the most of every application by getting your resume reviewed through VMock.

Use your [email protected] email to set up your free account, and then upload your resume. Doesn’t matter where or when, VMock provides instant feedback 24/7.

VMock can also provide feedback on your LinkedIn profile.

One final thing…

The Curtin Careers Fair on Wednesday 16 March is going virtual!

Due to the shift to Level 2 public health measures, we are currently working on the best way to present this event virtually and will provide updates as soon as we confirm the details.

No matter what, this is still a chance for you to connect with employers from a range of industries and find out more about the opportunities available!

Keep up to date on what’s happening with the Careers Fair

If you’d like more ideas on kick starting your future career, contact the Curtin Careers team via email at [email protected] or over the phone on +61 8 9266 7802. You can also book a one-to-one Careers Conversation and follow us on Facebook.
