Thursday @ Careers For Tomorrow Festival

Thursday at the Careers For Tomorrow Festival 2020 begins with a focus on internships. We then look at the challenges of blending culture and profession and securing a graduate role in unique circumstances.

WHAT AN INTERNSHIP CAN DO FOR YOU AND YOUR CAREER
This workshop looks at how you could potentially secure an internship while you are at university, and what value this could add to your student experience and your future career!
9:30am – 10:30am

BUILDING A PROFESSIONAL NETWORK FROM SCRATCH
The creative industries are all about who you know. Come to this session to learn how to create and cultivate a professional network from scratch. By attending this session you also get early access to the chance to win a $1500 scholarship from ArtBound Initiative!
11am – 12pm

WHEN CULTURE AND PROFESSION INTERSECT
Culture and community are cornerstones of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander identity, but is there space for these elements in the professional world? Meet the Indigenous entrepreneurs who have successfully combined culture with profession, and are striving towards prosperity and recognition of Australia’s First People through their work.
12.30pm – 1.30pm

THE ROAD TO GRADUATE EMPLOYMENT
We all know that the landing your first professional position can be a tumultuous experience and everyone’s path is different, so how do you secure a graduate job? Hear from recent Curtin grads about their journeys, their struggles and successes, and the valuable tips and tricks that helped them succeed.
1pm – 2pm

STAYING RELEVANT & EMPLOYABLE IN A BRAND NEW WORLD
Tim Turbin, Career Engagement Manager at Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, looks at the difficulties faced by graduates in a changing employment market. We’ll discuss alternative means of finding work, including the importance of staying active on LinkedIn, networking, and leveraging contacts.
