Railway Technical Society of Australasia is giving you the chance to undertake a tender submission, connect with industry professionals and win prizes!

Participating in the RTSA University Challenge is an opportunity to experience a tender submission process for a rail infrastructure project. Teams of 4 are required to submit a project proposal for a hypothetical railway project. The winning team will be offered interviews for vacation work at a leading railway engineering firm, with runners up receiving a cash prize.

In 2017 a team from Curtin won the RSTA challenge. Here’s what Wayne Lee, one of the winning team, thought of the experience:

The process was a very humbling and insightful experience; I was able to gain a stronger understanding of my role as an engineer and at the same time reminded myself of how much more there is to learn. My take away message is “direction is more important than effort”, as future engineers I think it is very important for us to contemplate this. I would recommend all engineering students to participate in a future RTSA Challenge. The Challenge is not only fun, but also helps you learn about engineering and the rail industry. If you participate with an open mind, I am sure you’ll gain a lot from the experience. Good luck!
