Prepare for the Fair

Prepare for the Fair

We’re a week out from the Curtin Careers Fair 2018, so now’s the time to plan how you’re going to make the most of it. It’s ok if you just want to drop in and get a feel of what it’s all about, but there are some simple things you can do that mean you will more going.

  • Do your homework! Find out who’s attending (simple – check out our event page) and work out which employers you’re interested in. Do some research on your shortlist – find out what they do, how they do it and what they’ve got to offer.
  • Write your script! So you’ve decided that you’re interested in some of the employers attending the Careers Fair, now’s the time to plan what you’re going to say to them. Work on how you introduce yourself and come up with some questions that aren’t answered by information on their website.
  • Book into a presentation! We have Honeywell, Bankwest, Department of Defence, IGO, NIT, Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale, Readygrad, Schlumberger and The Autism Association of WA all presenting in the Work Ready Zone throughout the Fair. Reserve your seat through UniHub.
  • Spend some time on your resume! If you’d like to get professional resume advice, make sure you print a copy and bring it to the Fair. If you put a bit of time into it beforehand (simple – use the Resume Workbook or complete the Resume Module), you’ll get more out of your professional review.

If you’d like to know more about how to get the most out of the Curtin Careers Fair 2018, we’ve got a workshop on Monday 12 March focused on exactly that. You can book your seat through UniHub.

We’re looking forward to seeing you at the Curtin Careers Fair 2018!
