What’s On: 21 – 25 August

Another week of winter done and we’ve finally seen some sunshine. One of our team is trying to escape the cold by heading to Kalgoorlie to host some workshops for our WA School of Mines students. For the those of us stuck rugged up in Perth, we have workshops on cover letters, selection criteria and goal setting, as well as several employers visiting us on campus.

Cover Letters | Tuesday 22 August | 400.222, Bentley Campus

What does your cover letter say about you? An employer’s first introduction to you is through your cover letter – how will you make sure they want to know more? This module will help you understand what to include in your cover letter, how to promote your skills and experiences, and how to connect with different employers.

Goal Setting | Wednesday 23 August | 403.101, Bentley Campus

Stop procrastinating and start kicking goals. Goal setting and effective time management are important life skills. Explore how you can become more effective at setting meaningful goals, using frameworks such as SMART goals, as well as exploring strategies for planning, prioritisation and overcoming procrastination.

Pitcher Partners | Wednesday 23 August | 408.1019, Bentley Campus

Why you should choose to work in a mid-tier accounting firm. This presentation will allow students to gain an understanding of the various opportunities available as well as an understanding of the culture in a mid-tier firm.

Selection Criteria | Thursday 24 August | Bentley Campus

Whether they are obvious or hidden, all job adverts contain selection criteria. Effectively identifying and addressing selection criteria is the perfect opportunity to show an employer you are the right person for the job. Learn how to activate effective formulas to answer even the most challenging of selection criteria.

Women in STEM | Thursday 24 August | UWA

METS Careers Pathway program – the Mining Equipment, Technology and Services (METS) Sector is looking for you! This 4-month program will provide you with online coaching and industry insights, access to an online network of your peers and potential employers and, most importantly, a ten week paid internship within one of our member companies.

Department of Defence | Friday 25 August | Bentley Campus

The Dept of Defence has two presentations this week; one highlighting their Graduate Program for Engineering students and another focused on Graduate Program Applications and Assessment Centres.

Check out what Hayley, Training Coordinator with Curtin Leadership Program, has to say about our upcoming workshops.
