Getting prepped for the WA School of Mines Careers Day

For those of you who were planning on getting along to the WA School of Mines Careers Day, there are a few things you should do before you go.

Firstly, read up on the exhibitors that will be attending on the day. The profiles on Careers For Tomorrow are a start, but make sure you jump on their websites. In particular, take a look at the types of students they are looking for, including visa requirements.

It’s also worth doing a Google news search on the company to see what contracts they have won recently, any management or company changes, or new ventures they are taking part in that you may be interested in.

Once you’ve done some research, have a think about some questions you’d like to ask the representatives on the day. It’s so simple to be prepared, and you will make a great first impression.

Secondly, have a look at our careers guides. Here are a few that may be interesting – Mining Engineering, Extractive Metallurgy and Mining.

Finally, put a little bit of thought into your appearance on the day. You don’t need a suit, but make sure you look smart.

Enjoy the day! And don’t forget, our team is available to assist students on all issues relating to careers, employment, and employability all year round and resources will continue to be made available right here on Careers for Tomorrow.
