Push Your Boundaries – Growing Employability in Accounting

If you don’t know by now, employers love students who can do more than do well in their studies. Grades are important but so are all of the extras!

If you are an accounting student looking to get selected into vacation or graduate programs, you have plenty of options. You won’t miss out on what’s on offer if you subscribe to sites such as Grad Connection and Graduate Opportunities for alerts on annual programs. Banks usually open for applications around late February and the Big Four and other organisations in both the public and private sectors open in March/April.

Check out Sam Lim’s profile for an insight into a recent Curtin Accounting & Finance Alumni and his successful transition from graduate program to a role in underwriting with a major, global company, AIG. As a bonus, you can also get an inside look at other roles within Sam’s company.

Get an early start and find out how to add value to your degree through extra-curricular activities and add value to your job application documents. Check out the Employability Award for a great start or get in touch with us for personalised advice on (08) 9266 7802 or [email protected]
